Discover the magic of British Birds of Prey
Set within the stunning 568 acres of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, The British Bird of Prey Centre is where you can get up close to some of the UK’s most incredible native raptors and watch them soar.
Entry to the Centre is by DONATION, you are welcome to pay as much as you can afford, and all of the proceeds go towards helping us care for the birds. Then you can come and go as often as you like throughout the day.
And exciting news — we’re growing. A brand-new Centre will be opening at our new site this autumn, offering even more space for our birds to thrive and even more chances for you to experience the magic.
Meet Our Birds Up Close and In the Air
Step into a world where birds rule the skies — not the perches.
As you wander through the Centre, get ready to meet over 20 species of British birds of prey. Some are small and fluffy, others are huge and powerful, but all of them have big personalities.
At our Centre, you’re welcome to visit the birds in their beautiful, custom-designed homes as many times as you like throughout the day.
Each aviary is carefully built to suit the needs of the species it houses, offering comfort, stimulation, and space. Most of our birds were born in captivity and have grown up around people. They are relaxed, curious, and love showing off – so don’t forget your camera!
You’re welcome to visit their homes as many times as you like. You might even be greeted with a cheeky call or a curious head tilt.
Our Birds Fly Free Every Day
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief. Wildlife deserves freedom, respect, and choice.
This is where it gets really special.
At our Centre, the birds are never tied down. Every single day, they fly completely free. You’ll see them swoop, glide, and zoom through the sky, just like they would in the wild.
We use kind, modern training with no equipment whenever it’s safe, which means our birds fly because they want to. And they always choose to come back home when they’re ready. That’s how you know they’re happy.
This level of care is what makes our Centre so special. Happy, healthy birds. Real conservation in action. And unforgettable experiences for every visitor.
Want to see them in action? Catch one of our flying displays and feel the wind as they zoom right past you!
